Maintenance Fitter Static Plant | Quarry & Aggregates Environment
We are looking for a skilled and safety‑focused Maintenance Fitter to join our operations team. This is a hands‑on role responsible for maintaining, inspecting, and repairing static plant equipment to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operation. You will play a key role in delivering planned maintenance, fault finding, and inspections while keeping accurate records in line with site and management requirements. The role involves working on crushing and screening plants, ensuring equipment operates within capacity to meet productivity targets, and maintaining high standards of plant cleanliness and safety at all times. Flexibility is essential, as you may be required to support other Heidelberg Materials sites within the local area. Travel or transport allowances may apply for journeys beyond your normal commute.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and repair static plant equipment in a safe, efficient, and compliant manner.
- Carry out planned maintenance, inspections, and servicing in line with manufacturer and Heidelberg Materials standards.
- Ensure plant is kept in good physical order, including greasing, cleaning, and general upkeep.
- Complete daily inspection sheets and maintenance documentation accurately.
- Identify, report, and escalate defects or issues to the line manager, supervisor, or chargehand.
- Operate plant and machinery safely and in an energy‑efficient manner.
- Complete near‑miss and safety reports as required by site management.
- Support safe start‑up and shut‑down of plant equipment.
- Demonstrate good timekeeping and reliability.
Qualifications & Experience (Essential)
- Computer literate.
- Good general education with a strong understanding of health & safety and quarry regulations.
- EPIC certification to operate mobile plant.
- NVQ Level 2 in Mobile Plant Operations (following EPIC completion).
- Safety awareness of industrial gases.
- Practical experience in burning and welding operations.
