Residential Support Worker
Full‑time, permanent position in Southampton. Salary ranges from £33,349.58 (unqualified) to £35,935.36 (Level 3/4) with sleep‑in shifts.
Shift pattern: 3‑week rolling rota of 7 × 24‑hour shifts (09:00–09:30 the following day) with sleep‑ins. One weekend off each three‑week period.

Budwood, part of Polaris Community, provides residential care and support to children and young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties and social‑emotional mental health needs. Our service aims to give a stable, comfortable home and equip young people with skills for a successful transition to independence and adulthood.
Responsibilities
- Provide flexible and individual care packages to meet each young person’s needs.
- Promote, safeguard and protect the welfare of young people.
- Establish and maintain positive, trusting relationships with residents.
- Encourage the development of individual interests and skills.
- Work collaboratively within a small team, accepting direction and guidance.
Qualifications
- Experience working with children and young people, or knowledge of challenges faced by young people in care.
- Qualification: Residential Childcare/Families Practitioner Diploma, Children and Young People’s Workforce/NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care, or willingness to pursue and upgrade to a Level 4 diploma.
- Full UK driving licence and access to a car (travel required).
- Excellent communication, listening and interpersonal skills.
- Willingness to undertake an enhanced DBS check; fee paid by the employer.
- Experience with Emotional Behavioural Disorder, Social/Residential Work or Youth Work is advantageous.
