Facilities Assistant – Domestic

We are looking for a dedicated Facilities Assistant to join our team at Blossomwood Hospital, located on the Kingsmill Hospital site in Sutton‑in‑Ashfield. This is a part‑time role of 25 hours per week (5/7) with weekends and bank holidays. Shift pattern will be discussed at interview.

Responsibilities

  • Cleaning and maintaining areas to a high standard of hygiene and cleanliness in line with infection control and health and safety guidelines.
  • Providing basic catering and portering support as required.
  • Carrying out duties on a rota basis, covering other units if necessary.
  • Assisting with manual handling, food safety and adherence to COSHH, health and safety policies.

Person specification

Qualifications

  • Understanding of cleanliness and good hygiene practices.
  • Recognised catering, cleaning or support services qualification.

Training

  • Ability to undertake all mandatory training as required by the individual site.
  • Will receive in‑house training for all duties, including health and safety, infection control, HACCP and other necessary skills.

Experience

  • Experience in a catering, portering or cleaning environment.
  • Experience working in a healthcare setting, including food safety management system (HACCP).
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions as described in the job description.

Knowledge

  • Commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion principles.
  • Basic knowledge of health and safety, COSHH, manual handling and NHS policies and procedures.
  • Understanding of infection control and special diet/allergen awareness.

Other information

Applicants requiring a Skilled Worker Visa must meet the Certificate of Sponsorship criteria. Applicants are responsible for the DBS check cost (£26.40 standard or £54.40 enhanced), to be deducted over the first two months of employment. DBS Update Service enrolment is encouraged (£16 per annum).

Pay: £25,272 per annum, pro‑rata for part‑time.
