People Operations & Engagement Coordinator North
Permanent, Full Time, Grade 3. Salary £32,000 – £38,000 per annum (depending on experience) for the Northern region. Bases may be any of our sites in Aberdeen, Belfast, Bolton, Carlisle, Durham, Glasgow or Inverness.
Role Overview
As a People Operations & Engagement Coordinator, you’ll be the vital link between site operations and our wider People function, partnering with ER, Payroll, People Partners and Centres of Expertise to drive consistent, compliant and engaging people practices every day.
Responsibilities
- Lead support for site management teams and Divisional Managers in delivering people‑focused change and strategic people initiatives.
- Own and coordinate DBS compliance, ensuring accurate records, managing renewals, conducting audits, and promptly escalating any risks or non‑compliance.
- Champion colleague engagement by coordinating recognition, inclusion, and wellbeing initiatives, and supporting the twice‑annual employee engagement survey “On the Pulse” plans to turn insight into meaningful action.
- Leverage people data and key metrics (including absence, retention, ER, and LTO) to identify trends, risks, and opportunities, enabling leaders to take targeted, informed action.
- Coach and empower managers to confidently self‑serve across systems, policies, and processes, building capability and reducing reliance on transactional support.
- Support peak planning by ensuring scalable capacity models are in place, and lead on network operational changes and key divisional priorities.
Qualifications
- Experience in HR administration or coordination, with a solid understanding of HR processes, policies, and compliance across the full colleague lifecycle, from onboarding through to off‑boarding.
- Experience working in a fast‑paced, multi‑site operational environment, effectively balancing people priorities with business performance.
- Confidence using people metrics (absence, retention, ER, etc.) to identify trends, make practical recommendations and support clear targeted action.
- Ability to build strong relationships and influence site leaders and operational teams across all levels.
- Proven ability to coach and empower managers, building confidence and ownership of people processes.
- Full valid UK driving licence.
Preferred Qualifications
- CIPD qualified or working towards.
- Payroll experience.
