Learning Support Assistant (Casual)

Hourly paid at £12.85 per hour

We are looking for Learning Support Assistants to provide high quality confidential customer‑focused support service to learners with additional learner support needs, working closely with the wider learner services department to ensure the service meets the needs of learners.

Responsibilities

• Support learners with additional learning needs to access the college sites and services and integrate into their learning environment.
• Support learners with neuro‑diverse and complex needs with strategies to enable independent learning and study.
• Support academic staff with appropriate information, advice and guidance to ensure adherence to the assessment of need / pen portrait / EHCP and the role of learner support assistant.
• Work closely with academic staff and the wider learner and customer services department as a team to provide reasonable adjustment for learners with additional needs.
• Assist learners who have personal care needs in line with HCUK guidelines.
• Record daily support records in a timely manner and attend relevant staff meetings with the Team Leader, SEND Co‑ordinator and/or Director of Learner & Customer Services.
• Provide relevant information and assist Team Leaders with monitoring and identifying learner need where necessary.

Qualifications

• GCSE English & Maths Grade C or equivalent.
• An understanding of the additional learning support needs of learners.
• Ability to access and navigate confidently around college ICT systems.
• Confident, approachable and friendly disposition with strong interpersonal skills.
• Creates a positive image of the college through delivery of high quality customer‑focused service.
• Works successfully with colleagues at all levels of an organisation to achieve results.
• Receives, stores and transmits information (written, electronic, oral), and understands and conveys information that might be sensitive or needs careful explanation or interpretation in a timely manner.
