Job Description:

Reporting to the Department Leader you will support and share responsibility for fault finding, setting, operating, and maintaining bespoke dehelixing, slitting, stalk loading, cleaning, side grinding, rolling and winding machines used to process turbo rings. As Lead Operator, you will also be required to cover some aspects of the Shift Leader’s role when they are absent from the department.

The key objective in this role is to achieve and improve quality and production targets, ensuring the highest standards of production are met.

Flexibility will be required to meet the demand of the business. This includes working outside your core hours.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Machine setting and operating
  • Maintenance and tooling
  • Controlling of process to maximise output and minimise scrap
  • Identifying tool prep requirements
  • Using measuring equipment within a precision engineering environment
  • To be active and responsible for all First Line Maintenance activities within the Cell
  • To assist with workflow and work allocation which includes liaising with the Production Planning Team
  • Flexibility to meet the demands of the business
  • Covering aspects of the Shift Leader’s role in their absence, for example, but not limited to, raising maintenance requests, supervising staff and carrying out shift handovers.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

  • Hands on experience of working in an engineering environment with high targets / production flow
  • Basic PC knowledge
  • The ability to navigate around Sharepoint and D365 systems will be advantageous
  • Familiarity with IATF 16949, ISO 09001 and ISO 14001 an advantage
  • Knowledge and understanding of reading tooling drawings would be advantageous
  • LEAD program activity would be beneficial to the role
