Support Service Assistant

1 Post of 21 hour per week available, worked on a 7 on 7 off roster primarily based at Tickhill Road Hospital site.

Location: Rotherham, Doncaster and South Humber NHS Foundation Trust.

Main Duties

• Empty bins.
• Vacuum clean rooms.
• Mop floors.
• Buff and scrub floors.
• Damp dust furniture and fittings.
• Replenish and clean all sanitary areas.
• Serve breakfast, lunch, and evening meals in ward areas.

Qualifications

• GCSE or equivalent in English and Mathematics.
• Food Safety Level 2.
• Commitment to completing a competency workbook within 12 months.
• Commitment to complete an NVQ Level 2 in Cleaning and Support Services within 18 months of employment.
• Basic IT Level 1.

Experience

• Previous cleaning and/or catering experience.
• Ability to use a computer to input data, send and receive emails, and undertake e-learning.
• Experience working in a hospital or healthcare setting.

Knowledge

• Basic knowledge of Health & Safety.
• Food Safety Act 1990.
• National Standards of Cleanliness.
• Infection prevention and control.
• Domestic and clinical waste disposal procedures.

Skills and Abilities

• Ability to understand and adhere to standards and procedures.
• Teamwork abilities.
• Excellent hygiene standards.
• Verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to operate cleaning machinery.
• Willingness to acquire new skills and to achieve appropriate qualifications.
• Good interpersonal skills.

Additional Requirements

• Access to transport and ability to travel within the required geographical area.
