Role Overview

We are searching for people to help support the delivery of our operations at Stockley Park. We are looking to build a pool of Assistant Replay Operators to support the delivery of VAR operations during live Premier League match days.

You’ll gain hands‑on experience at the heart of elite football operations, working with cutting‑edge replay technology in a live broadcast environment seen by millions worldwide.

While this is a casual contract, we are seeking candidates with full availability across the week. This role is designed for those looking to commit to significant hours, particularly during peak periods of the football calendar.

Availability and Training Commitment

While this is a casual contract, matches take place strictly in accordance with the live football calendar.

Candidates must be able to prioritise weekend availability to support live match operations. Initial weekday availability is also required to allow for structured training, system familiarisation, and competency sign‑off before undertaking matchday duties independently.

Assistant Replay Operator Responsibilities

  • Video Feed Management: Maintain and monitor all incoming broadcast camera feeds to ensure high‑quality, real‑time video is available throughout the match.

  • Support for VAR & Replay Operator: Provide immediate access to the most relevant camera angles upon request, ensuring clear and efficient review for the VAR team.

  • Matchday Preparation: Assist in setup, testing, calibration, and troubleshooting of all VAR‑related hardware and software before kickoff.

  • System Operation & Monitoring: Operate specialised replay technology (Hawk‑Eye SMART Replay), checking all systems before and during matches to ensure reliability.

  • Archiving & Incident Logging: Efficiently capture, label, and archive key match incidents—such as goals, penalties, offsides, and potential red cards—ensuring all clips are accurately logged, timestamped, and organised for quick retrieval and post‑match review.

VARDict Graphics Operator Responsibilities

  • VARDict Graphics Delivery: Deliver real‑time graphics and data to stadium screens, broadcasters and communicate VAR decisions clearly to fans and partners during live matches.

  • Stockley Park Support:

    • Liaise with officials, broadcasters, and stadium staff remotely.
    • Support data accuracy and maintain high operational standards.
    • Conduct pre‑match checks and ensure all systems are ready to go.
    • Troubleshoot any technical issues quickly and calmly.

Essential Attributes

  • Must live within a commutable distance to Stockley Park.
  • Must be available to work weekends and some midweek evenings.
  • Ability to perform under pressure in a live broadcast environment.
  • Strong football knowledge and understanding of the Laws of the Game.
  • A high level of professionalism – you’ll be working in a client‑facing role.
  • Excellent communication skills and a calm, solutions‑focused attitude.
  • A solid technical foundation and quick to learn new systems.
  • Excellent hand‑eye coordination and reaction speed, with skills commonly developed through video gaming or fast‑paced interactive environments.
  • Ability to process visual information rapidly, select the correct camera angles, and execute precise actions in time‑critical moments.
  • Proactive, organised, and detail‑oriented.

Desirable Attributes

  • Previous experience using replay/video editing software.
  • Experience working in live broadcast events and video formats.
  • Strong understanding of PC networking.

  • Have opportunities to travel abroad mainly in Europe, for UEFA‑based competitions. There could also be further travel to other tournaments throughout the year.

What Challenges Might I Face

  • Working Hours: Due to the nature of the sports industry, there is often work on weekends and mid‑week evenings, and we are expected to fulfil our roles until the final whistle and takedown is complete.
  • Travelling Abroad: As the role progresses into international tournament operations, you will be required to travel abroad. This may mean spending periods away from home, which may occasionally conflict with personal milestones or important events.
  • High‑Pressure Situations: Working in a live broadcast environment on a production that is distributed globally and widely seen will bring levels of pressure.
