Prospero Teaching is looking for a compassionate, proactive and resilient Wellbeing Assistant to join a specialist SEN school in Ringwood. This is a highly rewarding position supporting pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, working closely with the school’s Wellbeing Manager to deliver targeted interventions that help pupils feel safe, understood and ready to learn.
This role suits someone with experience in pastoral support, safeguarding, family liaison or SEMH‑focused work, who is confident building relationships and coordinating support around vulnerable pupils.
Key Responsibilities
Supporting pupils 1:1 and in small groups with conflict resolution, friendship challenges, anger management, bereavement, stress, anxiety and emotional wellbeingUsing self‑help, grounding and mindfulness‑based strategies to help pupils regulate emotions and build resilienceLiaising with parents and carers, offering guidance, responding to concerns and signposting to internal or external servicesChairing parent meetings and carrying out home visits where appropriateWorking confidently with local agencies and understanding multi‑agency roles and responsibilitiesActing as a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead, maintaining up‑to‑date knowledge of KCSIE and safeguarding legislationSupporting attendance in collaboration with the Attendance OfficerAssisting with transition for new pupils and liaising with families and feeder schoolsUsing CPOMS/SIMS and maintaining accurate safeguarding and wellbeing recordsBuilding strong, trusting relationships with pupils to help them communicate challenges and develop confidenceAssessing SEMH needs and coordinating appropriate support or referralsReferring pupils/families to Early Help, CAMHS, MASH, local charities and other relevant agenciesAttending Child Protection, CIN and Early Help meetings as requiredCoordinating wellbeing activities such as parent coffee mornings and community eventsContract Details
