1.1 Teaching Assistant – Year 2

Overview

We are seeking a caring, enthusiastic and dedicated Level 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a Year 2 pupil at a welcoming primary school in Barnsley. The successful candidate will play a key role in helping the child access learning, develop confidence and achieve their full potential within the classroom environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 support for a Year 2 pupil during lessons and school activities
• Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging learning opportunities
• Support the child’s academic, social and emotional development
• Help manage behaviour positively and encourage independence
• Adapt resources and activities to meet the pupil’s individual needs
• Build positive relationships with parents, staff and external professionals
• Support the pupil during breaktimes, lunchtimes or transitions where required
• Maintain accurate records and contribute to progress reviews

The Ideal Candidate

• Experience working with primary-aged children, ideally in Key Stage 1
• A patient, nurturing and positive approach
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• An understanding of supporting children with additional needs/SEND (desirable)
• A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children

Hours: 8.30am – 3.30pmContract: Long-termStart Date: ASAP
