Vehicle Technician – Job Specification
Location: Longtown / Uddingston
An experienced and motivated Vehicle Technician is required to join a professional and fast‑paced workshop environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out high‑quality servicing, diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance across a diverse fleet of vehicles including cars, vans, commercial vehicles, HGVs/LGVs, and trailers. This role would suit a technician who takes pride in delivering excellent workmanship, has strong fault‑finding abilities, and enjoys working with modern vehicle technology in a dynamic team environment.

Key Responsibilities
- Carry out routine servicing, inspections, maintenance, and repairs to a high professional standard
- Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults using modern diagnostic equipment
- Perform preventative maintenance and identify potential issues before failure
- Ensure all work is completed efficiently, safely, and in line with industry and legislative standards
- Complete job cards, inspection reports, and workshop documentation accurately
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment at all times
- Communicate effectively with workshop management and colleagues regarding vehicle progress and repair requirements
- Deliver excellent customer service through professional and efficient workmanship
- Stay up to date with the latest vehicle technology, diagnostic methods, DVSA standards, and MOT legislation
- Support the servicing and repair of hybrid and electric vehicles where required
- Carry out MOT inspections and testing where qualified
Skills & Experience Required
- Fully qualified or time‑served Vehicle Technician
- Proven experience within a workshop or commercial vehicle environment
- Strong diagnostic and fault‑finding capabilities
- Good understanding of mechanical and electrical vehicle systemsability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- Full UK Driving Licence essential
- HGV/LGV licence advantageous but not essential
- MOT Tester qualification beneficial
Desirable Experience
- Experience working on commercial vehicles, trailers, HGVs, or LGVs
- Knowledge of hybrid and electric vehicle systems
- Familiarity with DVSA inspection standards and MOT procedures
- Experience using modern workshop systems and diagnostic technology
