Job Information

Northumberland County Council’s Staff Bank provides a pool of highly skilled temporary workers who are looking for a long‑term placement, or who want to work flexibly within the council. If a team needs support due to sickness, common staff shortages, or general vacancies, they call upon registered bank members to fill available assignments. These can be filled via a long‑term assignment for up to 12 months or on an ad hoc basis.

Role of the Job

You must be able to work the following shifts:Thursday 18th June 2026 8am – 4pmFriday 19th June 2026 8am – 3:30pmThursday 25th June 2026 8am – 4pmFriday 26th June 2026 8am – 3:30pmThursday 2nd July 2026 8am – 4pm

This is a dynamic role, no two days are the same and your responsibilities would include:

  • Inspect vehicles and the waste they are delivering into our Waste Transfer Station.
  • Direct site users to the correct skips and bays.
  • Keep the site litter free, safe and tidy for all users.
  • Manage capacity of skips and book exchanges when necessary.
  • Work with site management to ensure compliance with the site licence.

Qualifications

You must be physically fit, able to multi‑task and prioritise your own workload, and possess good problem‑solving and communication skills to ensure the smooth running of the transfer station.
