Facilities Support Services Assistant – Cleaning, Catering & Portering

Two Part‑time positions of 20 hours per week, flexible hours between 7 am and 8 pm, with opportunity to cover additional shifts.

Job overview

Multiskilled role within the Facilities Team at Weymouth Hospital and related sites, performing cleaning, catering, and porter duties.

The role requires full training, support, and uniform. A valid UK driving licence is desired.

Main duties

• Porter duties: receive deliveries, support unloading of stores, linen and catering deliveries.
• Cleaning: carry out cleaning of clinical areas, toilets, bin emptying and other cleaning tasks to NHS standards.
• Catering: support the catering service in the main hospital kitchen, make sandwiches and salads.

Weekend hours attract additional pay and a generous annual leave allowance.

Required qualifications

• Demonstrable written and spoken English skills at a level that permits effective performance of all duties.
• Previous experience in a similar role.
• Basic IT skills.
• Level 2 basic food hygiene certificate or progress towards it, and level 2 housekeeping or progress towards it.
• Good communication skills and ability to prioritise workload.

Other requirements

• Enhanced DBS check (cost covered by the Trust). Applicants with a DBS update service may present a valid DBS certificate.
• Non‑essential car users may be required to travel on Trust business where public transport is available.
• No visa sponsorship available; applicants must have right to work in the UK.
