Job Overview

Would you enjoy carrying out a key role with the inspection and management of disused colliery tip sites, assessing safety issues, stability, drainage and geotechnical aspects? Do you enjoy working outdoors, managing your own projects and working as part of a close‑knit team? This is a Welsh Government grant funded full‑time temporary post, up to 31 March 2029 (with possible contract extension). The Council will support your continued professional development and encourage you to play a key role in the future development of the service.

Key Qualifications and Experience

  • Knowledge of Civil Engineering, drainage and/or general construction, land stability, and mining.
  • Understanding of drainage systems and processes, and their role in land management.
  • Knowledge of slope stability analysis.
  • Experience of project management.
  • Experience of managing consultants and contractors (preferably through the NEC suite of contracts).
  • Highly developed communication, interpersonal skills and self‑motivation.
  • Awareness of the Legislative Framework including the Mines and Quarries (Tips) Act 1969 and the Disused Mine and Quarry Tips (Wales) 2025 Act.
  • Willingness to learn and bring value even if some qualifications differ.
