House Keeper – Chemotherapy Day Unit

We are looking for an enthusiastic, and motivated person, to take on a housekeeper position within the Bristol Haematology and Oncology Chemotherapy Day Unit Department. This position is for 5 days per week, with some hours at our unit at South Bristol as part of our recent expansion. The candidate must demonstrate good communication skills, be passionate, hard working, logical, and organised. They must work well in a team, and also be able to work autonomously. Excellent communication and IT skills are required. The schedule is Monday to Friday 8‑4, no weekends or nights, with occasional Bank Holiday availability.
The Post Holder will:
- Work as an integral part of the ward team, coordinating patient facilities and services.
- Order stock, contact suppliers and maintain clinic rooms and trolleys, ensuring they are well stocked.
- Ensure a clean, safe and comfortable environment and act as the focal point for non‑clinical tasks.
- Coordinate delivery of catering, cleaning, and ward stores.
- Coordinate and oversee minor maintenance and repairs, working with Facilities Management and other departments.
- Help open the department in the morning, welcoming patients and relatives.
- Maintain cleaning standards, create and maintain checklists, and support nursing teams on new projects.
Training & Education
- GCSE A‑C English or equivalent (e.g., adult literacy level 2 certificate)
- GCSE A‑C Maths or equivalent (e.g., numeracy level 1 certificate)
Knowledge & Experience
- Experience in a health & social care setting
- Good working knowledge of Health & Safety
Skills & Ability
- Good interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with patients, visitors and staff.
- Ability to successfully complete required training programmes and a willingness to continue learning.
- Ability to work effectively in a team and contribute to that team.
- Respond well to instruction, work unsupervised, and organise self.
- Flexible and reliable.
- IT skills: basic word processing, email, keyboard, data collection, MS Office.
