Role Summary
Hampreston First School are seeking to appoint a Teaching Assistant with experience of working with pupils with SEND. This role includes working with pupils during the teaching period and midday sessional break within the school, including both indoor and outdoors areas, ensuring a safe environment is maintained at all times. To assist the Headteacher & Deputy Headteacher to promote pupils’ academic, social and emotional development through the development and implementation of programmes of pupil work and support (individual and group) and in the provision of a stable, caring and supportive learning environment; to enable pupils to achieve their full learning potential and facilitate their personal, academic, social and moral development. Ideally the postholder will have an ELSA qualification and an understanding for the needs of young carers.
Responsibilities
- Working with pupils during teaching period and midday break, indoors and outdoors.
- Ensuring a safe and supportive learning environment.
- Assisting Headteacher and Deputy Headteacher in programme development and delivery.
- Supporting pupils’ academic, social, emotional, personal and moral development.
- Implementing group and individual support programmes.
Qualifications
- Experience working with children with SEND.
- ELSA qualification preferred.
- Understanding of the needs of young carers.
- Strong multi‑tasking, organisational and administrative skills.
- Excellent written, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Detail‑oriented with a “right first time” mindset.
- Self‑starter with good attention to detail.
