Job Description:

UCL Women’s Hockey Club is seeking an experienced and driven 1st XI Head Coach to lead our team and help challenge for top positions as we compete in the BUCS South Eastern Tier 1 conference.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging weekly training sessions on Monday evenings (5–7pm every four weeks, 6–8pm all other weeks)
  • Attend Wednesday BUCS matchdays to lead the team on game day
  • Drive the tactical and technical development of the squad, implementing clear systems of play
  • Monitor individual and team performance, providing regular constructive feedback to players
  • Work closely with the 1st team captain to maintain a high-performance, positive team culture

Experience and Approach

  • An England Hockey Level 1 or 2 coaching qualification is desirable, though candidates with strong relevant experience will be considered
  • A solid understanding of the game at a competitive level, both technically and tactically
  • Self‑motivated and reliable, with the commitment to show up consistently for training and matchdays
  • A history of developing players and raising team performance over a season
  • Strong communicator who can build trust and get the best out of a university squad
