We are looking for an outstanding Activity Coordinator with a passion for delivering excellent care on Roxeth Ward. It will be full time with a shift pattern of 5 shifts a week, working 4 days a week Monday to Friday and one day on the weekend with hours from 9am – 5pm. This includes weekends and bank holidays.

Roxeth Ward is our 12‑bed acute service for men and is based at Cygnet Hospital Harrow. The service provides a safe and stabilising environment for individuals who are experiencing an acute episode of mental illness and require an emergency admission. Cygnet Hospital Harrow provides a recovery focused service treating a wide range of mental health problems, including those with dual diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder. Our acute in‑patient psychiatric services offer assessment, diagnosis and treatment for individuals with a wide range of psychological and emotional problems, including those detained under the Mental Health Act.

Your day-to-day

  • Develop, plan, implement and oversee activities, outings and events for the people in our care.
  • Assist the Occupational Therapist and encourage patients to access and become involved in a variety of activities while maintaining any pre‑existing hobbies.
  • Plan and implement therapy programmes whilst ensuring appropriate materials are obtained.
  • Contribute ideas, facilitate events and activities in a safe manner.

You are

  • Experienced and/or passionate about working in healthcare and with learning disabilities.
  • Knowledgeable of Occupational Therapy.
  • An excellent role model who knows what good care looks like.
  • Highly organized, with a positive attitude.
  • A confident public speaker and facilitator.
  • Knowledgeable of suitable activities and pastimes to support mental health service users.
  • Positive in your approach to working with challenging behaviours.
  • Experienced in planning, resourcing and carrying out events and activities.

Pay

£14.50 per hour (increasing to £14.80 per hour after 3 months).
