SEND Support Assistant – Leeds

Position: SEND Support Assistant

Location: Leeds, West Yorkshire

Contract Type: Full-Time (Term-time)

Working Hours: 08:30 – 15:30

Rate of Pay: .00 per day

About the Role

We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate SEND Support Assistant to join a specialist provision in Leeds. In this role, you will support students with a range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), including learning difficulties, autism, and physical disabilities. Many students require tailored support both in the classroom and during school activities.

Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support for students with SEND.
  • Assist with classroom tasks, personal care, and mobility where needed.
  • Help implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and provide tailored support to meet students’ learning needs.
  • Promote engagement, independence, and inclusion for all students.
  • Work closely with teachers, therapists, and care staff to deliver a holistic approach to student support.

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting children or young people with SEND, autism, or learning difficulties (desirable).
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work well in a team.
  • A patient, compassionate, and adaptable approach to supporting students.
  • Willingness to assist with personal care and mobility tasks where required.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the dignity of vulnerable students.

Eligibility

  • Hold Right to Work in the UK.
  • Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate (or be willing to apply).
  • Provide two professional child-related references covering the last two years.
