Learning Support Assistant (LSA) – SEND School

Birmingham | Full-Time | Immediate Start / September Start Available

Are you passionate about making a real difference in the lives of children with additional needs? We are recruiting on behalf of a welcoming and specialist school in Birmingham for a dedicated Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to support pupils with Autism, SEMH needs, communication difficulties and complex learning needs.

The Role:

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and wider professionals to provide tailored support to pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups, helping them access learning, regulate emotions, build confidence and achieve their individual targets. You will support pupils both inside and outside the classroom, helping to create a safe, engaging and positive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support pupils with SEND including Autism, SEMH and complex needs
  • Deliver learning support on a 1:1 and small group basis
  • Encourage independence, confidence and positive behaviour
  • Adapt resources and tasks to meet individual needs
  • Support communication, emotional regulation and social development
  • Monitor progress and contribute to pupil records
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists and pastoral staff
  • Help maintain a safe, nurturing and structured environment

We Are Looking For:

  • Experience working with children or young people in a school, care or support setting
  • Experience supporting SEND, Autism, SEMH or additional needs is highly desirable
  • A calm, patient and empathetic approach
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • A genuine passion for helping children succeed
  • Relevant TA / LSA qualifications are desirable but not essential with experience
