FLT Counterbalance Driver

JDR Recruitment are recruiting for a Counterbalance FLT Driver for our client based in Swinton, M27.

Job Purpose

To safely and efficiently operate a counterbalance forklift truck within an outdoor yard environment, ensuring the timely movement, loading, unloading, and storage of goods while maintaining high standards of safety, accuracy, and housekeeping.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate a counterbalance FLT safely in an external yard environment
• Load and unload vehicles (HGVs, trailers, delivery vans)
• Transport pallets, materials, and stock between yard and warehouse areas
• Stack and store goods in designated locations in line with site procedures
• Carry out daily FLT checks and report defects immediately
• Secure loads correctly and ensure goods are handled without damage
• Follow all health & safety, site rules, and traffic management systems
• Assist with general yard duties as required (e.g. housekeeping, waste management)
• Work closely with warehouse operatives, drivers, and supervisors
• Complete basic paperwork or system scanning where required
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organised yard area

Health, Safety & Compliance

• Adhere to PUWER, LOLER, and company safety standards
• Wear required PPE at all times
• Report near misses, incidents, or unsafe conditions
• Operate FLT only within trained and authorised limits

Skills & Experience

Essential:

• Valid Counterbalance FLT licence (RTITB, ITSSAR, AITT or equivalent)
• Experience operating FLT, ideally in a yard or outdoor environment
• Strong awareness of health & safety procedures
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Desirable:

• Experience working around HGV movements
• Basic warehouse or logistics experience
• Yard marshalling experience

Working Conditions

• Includes Outdoor yard-based work
• Exposure to varying weather conditions

The shift pattern for this role is Monday – Thursday 5pm-5am Night Shifts.

The hourly rate for this role is £13 per hour
