Instrumental & SEND Music Tutors

Unqualified teachers’ pay scale, 4-6 depending on experience (£30,071 – £35,259 pro rata)

Temporary, 1 year initially with potential for continuation beyond this date as schools and parents renew contracts.

Location: Stockport Music Service (Werneth Young People’s Centre, SK6 1DJ) and in schools across the borough.

Responsibilities

  • String teaching and ensemble tutoring on Friday evenings (initially 4‑7 pm with possibility of extra teaching before or after).
  • String teaching during the school day (hours to be confirmed).
  • Piano accompaniment for Infant Music Makers, Thursday 4‑6 pm, with possibility of additional teaching afterwards.
  • Deliver small‑group instrumental teaching and whole‑class ensemble teaching in schools during the day and possibly some evening ensemble work at the music centre.
  • Expand casual pool of teachers in other disciplines: brass, woodwind, drum kit, orchestral percussion and music production.

Qualifications

Good technical knowledge of your instrument or voice and ability to communicate this to pupils ranging from complete beginners to students preparing for high‑level ABRSM and Trinity examinations.

Enthusiastic, self‑motivated, able to work flexibly with different age ranges and schools.

Experience in teaching preferred; must demonstrate ability to engage young people and communicate a love of music.

Stockport Council holds a Visa sponsorship licence but this campaign does not qualify.
