Job Description:

Class 1 Driver – Broomhouse Lane, Edlington

Responsible for carrying out deliveries across the UK while ensuring customers receive excellent service and the company’s brand is represented positively.

Responsibilities

  • Drive company vehicles and operate company equipment safely and in accordance with company policies, procedures, and legislation.
  • Carry out vehicle, load and auxiliary equipment checks before operating any vehicle and report any defects immediately.
  • Deliver goods to customer premises across the UK ensuring service levels are maintained.
  • Meet all special instructions as requested by the transport office.
  • Ensure that all documentation is completed and signed as required.
  • Report to the traffic office for a full debrief on return to base or at end of shift.
  • Undertake driving skills assessments at any time as requested.
  • Comply with vehicle security and standing instructions at all times.
  • Wear issued company uniform and personal protective equipment at all times while on duty.
  • Load product on the vehicle in a safe, evenly distributed manner, securing it appropriately for travel on the public highway in line with current legislative and guidance requirements.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the driving cab and condition of the allocated vehicle.
  • Report any accidents immediately in compliance with the company’s accident reporting procedure.
  • Attend essential training to carry out the driver role.
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures, including the Company Standards of Performance and Health and Safety Policy.
  • Hold and maintain the necessary driving licence and vocational entitlement relating to the role, and notify the Transport Manager immediately of any changes.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Current CPC.
  • Possess LGV C+E (Class 1) driving licence.
  • Digital tachocard and an up-to-date drivers qualification card, with full understanding of tachograph legislation.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers and co‑workers.
  • Diligent attention to detail.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Flexibility to cover working hours.
  • Experience in a customer‑facing role.
  • Numerate and literate.
  • Manual work involved (loading/unloading goods, stacking pallets, coupling/uncoupling trailers, opening/closing vehicle curtains).
