Class 1 Driver – Broomhouse Lane, Edlington
Responsible for carrying out deliveries across the UK while ensuring customers receive excellent service and the company’s brand is represented positively.
Responsibilities
- Drive company vehicles and operate company equipment safely and in accordance with company policies, procedures, and legislation.
- Carry out vehicle, load and auxiliary equipment checks before operating any vehicle and report any defects immediately.
- Deliver goods to customer premises across the UK ensuring service levels are maintained.
- Meet all special instructions as requested by the transport office.
- Ensure that all documentation is completed and signed as required.
- Report to the traffic office for a full debrief on return to base or at end of shift.
- Undertake driving skills assessments at any time as requested.
- Comply with vehicle security and standing instructions at all times.
- Wear issued company uniform and personal protective equipment at all times while on duty.
- Load product on the vehicle in a safe, evenly distributed manner, securing it appropriately for travel on the public highway in line with current legislative and guidance requirements.
- Maintain cleanliness of the driving cab and condition of the allocated vehicle.
- Report any accidents immediately in compliance with the company’s accident reporting procedure.
- Attend essential training to carry out the driver role.
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures, including the Company Standards of Performance and Health and Safety Policy.
- Hold and maintain the necessary driving licence and vocational entitlement relating to the role, and notify the Transport Manager immediately of any changes.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Current CPC.
- Possess LGV C+E (Class 1) driving licence.
- Digital tachocard and an up-to-date drivers qualification card, with full understanding of tachograph legislation.
- Excellent verbal communication skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with customers and co‑workers.
- Diligent attention to detail.
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Flexibility to cover working hours.
- Experience in a customer‑facing role.
- Numerate and literate.
- Manual work involved (loading/unloading goods, stacking pallets, coupling/uncoupling trailers, opening/closing vehicle curtains).
