Care Officer – Wayfield Avenue, Hove

Location: 2 Wayfield Avenue, Hove, BN3 7LW.

Salary: Hourly rate starting at £14.59 – £14.82, with enhancements for weekend working, nights and bank holidays.

Contract: Fixed‑hour basis, 18 hours per week (up to 30 hours). Rotational shifts of 6–8 hours starting at 7 am / 8 am / 12 pm / 2 pm, including evenings and weekends.

Job type: Adult Social Care – Care Officer.

Responsibilities

  • Support service users with all aspects of daily living, including administering medication, assisting with washing, showering, dressing, making beds, serving meals and general tidying.
  • Help service users access the community for walks, local shops, and medical appointments.
  • Keep accurate records such as food & fluid charts, observation charts and daily recordings.
  • Work as part of a friendly, supportive team.

Qualifications and Experience

  • No formal qualifications required; demonstrated values, behaviours, attitude, skills and experience that show capacity to provide care meeting the physical and emotional needs of a diverse range of people.
  • Experience in providing care to vulnerable people.
  • Friendly with a calming influence.
  • Ability to provide personal care that is dignified, respectful, offers choice and empowers individuals.
  • Ability to support diverse communities and challenge stigma associated with enduring mental‑health needs.
  • Ability to keep accurate records.

Employment Conditions

Staff work shifts of between 6 and 8 hours a day. Working location will be the council office; travel to and from the contractual location is at the applicant’s own expense.

The starting salary is pro rata if the position is less than 37 hours or term‑time only.
