Salary: Up to £31,429.33 per annum (£35,626.51 full time equivalent), depending on experience

The Exciting Role
We are looking for a committed and student-focused Pastoral Tutor to join our Child, Health & Social Work Professions department. The role will involve delivering high-quality pastoral care including academic support and personal development guidance, empowering students to overcome challenges, achieve their potential, and prepare for their next steps.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality group sessions and one-to-one support meetings that help students maximise academic progress and develop essential life skills.
- Lead engaging and meaningful tutorials, aligned with the Group’s tutorial programme, ensuring students build confidence, resilience, and employability skills.
- Develop and share resources that enhance the tutorial programme and contribute to a high-quality student experience.
- Organise and support enrichment and enhancement activities, including employer engagement and external visits, to provide learning beyond the classroom.
- Take ownership of student attendance and engagement, using reporting tools to identify at-risk learners and implementing proactive interventions.
- Support students through challenges by maintaining close communication with them and their families, making daily calls where necessary, arranging interventions, and re-engaging learners through personalised action plans.
- Set and review SMART targets with individual learners to track progress and drive improvement.
- Work closely with the Group’s Additional Learning Support team, ensuring every learner receives the tailored support they need.
- Collaborate with students, parents/carers, and cross-college support staff to remove barriers to success.
- Promote a culture of respect, motivation, and ambition, addressing inappropriate behaviour in line with college policies.
- Help students see beyond their qualifications by supporting progression into employment, apprenticeships, or further study.
- Stay up to date with student management and communication strategies, ensuring best practice in pastoral support.
- Deliver high quality always, everywhere – work with internal and external partners to create meaningful opportunities for student growth and success.
What You Will Be Doing
- Delivering engaging pastoral and employability sessions as part of our Child, Health & Social Work programmes, ensuring students develop essential life and career skills.
- Planning and preparing high-quality learning experiences that support students’ personal and professional development.
- Communicating with parents and guardians to encourage positive behaviour, attendance, and engagement.
- Working collaboratively with the department to support students in achieving their qualifications and future career aspirations.
What We Are Looking For
- Minimum of 4 GCSE qualifications (or equivalent) including grade C/4 in Maths and English.
- An individual with experience in pastoral support, student mentoring, personal tutoring or a related role.
- A passionate and enthusiastic team player who is committed to student success.
- A recognised teaching qualification at Level 5 or above, or a willingness to undertake one.
- A degree-level or professional qualification in a relevant subject, or equivalent industry experience.
