Class 1 Weekend Driver – Bedford (MK43)
Contract: Ongoing Temporary (Year‑round stability)
Earnings: From £22.41 up to £49.61 per hour
Role & Responsibilities
- Chilled and frozen loads, mostly stored in cages but some cases may be pallets.
- 1‑3 store deliveries, to supermarkets or petrol station stores.
- Flexible to operate Class 1 and Class 2 vehicles (paid at Class 1 rate).
- Conduct thorough vehicle checks and maintain accurate digital tachograph records.
- Drive according to client professional standards, with coaching and training provided.
- Manage Working Time Directive and Driving Hours rules and regulations to meet compliance expectations.
- Act as a professional face of the brand when arriving at stores.
Shifts
- Saturday & Sunday.
- Available start time windows: 13:00‑17:00, 18:00‑22:00, 23:00‑03:00.
- Minimum one weekend day availability is required.

Pay rates vary by shift time and week. For example, day rates range from £19.05 to £32.73 per hour, back rates from £20.45 to £31.18 per hour, and night rates from £22.41 to £31.59 per hour, with regular increases every 12 and 27 weeks.
Class 1 Driver Requirements
- Valid UK driver cards (licence, CPC and DIGI cards).
- Minimum 6 months Class 1 licence and 6 months Class 1 driving experience.
- Previous experience in store deliveries preferred but not essential.
- Maximum 6 penalty points accepted for minor offences (no DR or DD offences).
- Availability to work weekends is essential for a 24/7 operation.
- Excellent customer‑service and communication skills with attention to detail.
