Duties as Design Technology Teacher
- Plan and deliver engaging Design Technology lessons across the secondary age range
- Teach Food Technology, ensuring safe and effective practical learning experiences
- Deliver lessons in line with the national curriculum and examination specifications where applicable
- Maintain a safe, inclusive, and well‑managed learning environment
- Ensure health and safety procedures are followed at all times, particularly in practical settings
- Use assessment effectively to monitor progress and inform teaching
- Provide clear feedback to support pupil development and achievement
- Differentiate lessons to meet the needs of pupils with a range of abilities
- Work collaboratively with the Design Technology department and wider staff team
- Contribute to curriculum development, schemes of work, and shared resources
- Maintain high expectations for behaviour, engagement, and achievement
- Uphold safeguarding, welfare, and health and safety responsibilities at all times
Ideal Design Technology Teacher
- Holds Qualified Teacher Status or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification
- Experience teaching Design Technology at secondary level
- Experience teaching Food Technology is essential
- Strong understanding of practical classroom management and health and safety
- Confident classroom and behaviour management skills
- Organised, enthusiastic, and reflective teaching approach
- Ability to motivate and engage pupils of varying abilities
- Willingness to start on a temporary basis with the opportunity to become permanent
