Design Technology Teacher (including Food Technology) – Full‑time, temporary to permanent from September 2026

Duties as Design Technology Teacher

  • Plan and deliver engaging Design Technology lessons across the secondary age range
  • Teach Food Technology, ensuring safe and effective practical learning experiences
  • Deliver lessons in line with the national curriculum and examination specifications where applicable
  • Maintain a safe, inclusive, and well‑managed learning environment
  • Ensure health and safety procedures are followed at all times, particularly in practical settings
  • Use assessment effectively to monitor progress and inform teaching
  • Provide clear feedback to support pupil development and achievement
  • Differentiate lessons to meet the needs of pupils with a range of abilities
  • Work collaboratively with the Design Technology department and wider staff team
  • Contribute to curriculum development, schemes of work, and shared resources
  • Maintain high expectations for behaviour, engagement, and achievement
  • Uphold safeguarding, welfare, and health and safety responsibilities at all times

Ideal Design Technology Teacher

  • Holds Qualified Teacher Status or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification
  • Experience teaching Design Technology at secondary level
  • Experience teaching Food Technology is essential
  • Strong understanding of practical classroom management and health and safety
  • Confident classroom and behaviour management skills
  • Organised, enthusiastic, and reflective teaching approach
  • Ability to motivate and engage pupils of varying abilities
  • Willingness to start on a temporary basis with the opportunity to become permanent
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
