The Role: 1:1 Visual Impairment Support
In this specialist role, you will provide vital 1:1 support for a primary-aged student with visual impairments. You won’t just be an assistant; you will be the bridge between the curriculum and the student, ensuring full inclusively and independence.
Key Responsibilities:
Braille Transcription: Accurately transcribing classroom materials into Unified English Braille (UEB) and vice versa.
Curriculum Access: Adapting lesson plans in real-time alongside the Class Teacher and SENCO.
Assistive Technology: Supporting the student with specialist VI equipment and software.
Holistic Development: Fostering social integration and emotional resilience within the school environment.
The Ideal Candidate
Braille Proficiency: You must have a working knowledge of UEB (Unified English Braille).
VI Experience: Previous experience supporting children with Visual Impairments or complex SEN is essential.
Stability: As this is a permanent role, we are looking for a professional committed to providing long‑term consistency for the student.
Location: Ideally based in or able to commute easily to Crawley/West Sussex.
