Job Description:

CookFull-time (40h a week) – Mon-Fri (various shifts)Reports To: Sous ChefThe Cook is responsible for preparing a variety of hot and cold dishes for both buffet services and café offerings (such as sandwiches, small pastries, etc.), as well as for production in the laboratory. The Cook will ensure that all food items are prepared to the highest standards of quality, presentation, and hygiene. This role involves following established culinary processes and maintaining strict adherence to food safety and hygiene regulations. The Cook will also be expected to work efficiently, both independently and as part of a team, ensuring smooth kitchen operations.Essential Functions:Food Preparation for Buffet and Café:Prepare hot and cold dishes, sandwiches, small pastries, and other food items for buffet setups and café offerings, ensuring all items are prepared in a timely manner and meet the company’s quality standards.Food Production in the Laboratory:Prepare and cook a variety of hot and cold dishes for large-scale production in the laboratory, ensuring that each dish is prepared in accordance with standardized recipes and production guidelines.Menu and Recipe Adherence:Follow prescribed menus and recipes, ensuring that all ingredients are used according to specification and that dishes are consistent in taste, presentation, and quality.Hygiene and Food Safety Compliance:Maintain a high standard of hygiene in the kitchen, including proper storage and handling of food items. Adhere to all food safety regulations and company processes to ensure the safety of the food prepared.Inventory Management:Assist with monitoring and managing food inventory levels, ensuring the kitchen is stocked with the necessary ingredients and that stock rotation is properly managed to prevent wastage.Quality Control and Presentation:Ensure that all food items are presented attractively and meet the required quality standards. Perform regular quality checks to maintain consistency in taste and appearance.Cleaning and Kitchen Maintenance:Maintain cleanliness in all kitchen areas, including equipment, countertops, and storage areas. Ensure that all kitchen utensils, tools, and appliances are properly cleaned and maintained.Collaboration with Team Members:Work closely with other kitchen staff, such as assistants and kitchen managers, to ensure smooth food preparation and timely service. Support team members in their tasks as needed.Event Support:Assist in preparing food for internal events or special occasions, ensuring that the food is presented according to the client’s preferences and specifications.Mutual Respect and Communication:Foster a culture of mutual respect and effective communication within the team, even during intense and demanding service periods.
