We are currently seeking dedicated and compassionate Pastoral Support Officers to join our partner secondary academies across Chesterfield. These roles are ideal for individuals with a background in youth work, education, social care, or mental health support who are looking to step into or continue a career in pastoral care within education.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide daily emotional, behavioural and social support to students.Work closely with Heads of Year, SENCOs, safeguarding leads and teaching staff.Support students with attendance, punctuality, and engagement in learning.Manage and de-escalate challenging behaviour in a calm and consistent manner.Build trusted relationships with students, parents/carers and external agencies.Contribute to a positive and inclusive school culture focused on wellbeing and success.We’re looking for candidates who:

Have experience working with young people in a pastoral, mentoring, or support capacity.Understand safeguarding procedures and the importance of confidentiality.Possess excellent communication, empathy, and resilience.Can handle sensitive situations with care, professionalism and discretion.Are proactive, organised, and committed to making a difference.Desirable but not essential:

Experience in a school or academy settingKnowledge of safeguarding frameworks and SENDRelevant qualifications in youth work, counselling, or mental healthWhy apply?
