We are working with a fast growing energy trading firm in Oxford looking to add a Power Trader to its expanding team.
The business has built a strong reputation within UK power markets, operating with a highly collaborative and entrepreneurial culture across trading and technology. The desk is active across intraday and day-ahead markets, with increasing focus around battery optimisation and short-term power strategies.
Responsibilities
- Trading UK power markets across intraday and day-ahead products
- Analysing and executing trades within fast-moving market conditions
- Supporting battery optimisation activity and strategy development
- Working closely with experienced traders and technologists
- Using analytical tools such as Excel and Python to support trading decisions
The desk primarily focuses on short-term trading, although positions may occasionally be held further out the curve.
Qualifications
- 1-4 years’ experience trading UK power markets
- Exposure to, or strong interest in, battery storage optimisation
- Comfort operating within a live shift-pattern trading environment
- Strong analytical capability, including Excel and/or Python
- A collaborative and commercially driven mindset
