We are seeking a confident, organised and enthusiastic Cover Supervisor to join our dedicated team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys working with students, supporting learning across the curriculum, and contributing to a positive school culture.
This is a permanent, full‑time post working 35 hours per week, term time only plus 1 week. The starting salary is £24,998 and the full time equivalent is £29,064 Grade 5. Start on 1st September 2026.
About the Role
As a Cover Supervisor, you will supervise whole classes during short‑term absence of teaching staff, ensuring students remain engaged and classroom expectations maintained. You will also support curriculum areas, work collaboratively with teachers and support staff, and contribute to the wider life of the school.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise lessons using pre‑prepared work
- Manage student behaviour positively and effectively
- Support teaching and learning across departments
- Provide feedback on student progress and engagement
- Assist with classroom resources and displays
- Support examinations, trips and enrichment activities
- Undertake break/lunch duties and wider school support tasks
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Good literacy and numeracy skills
- Experience working with children or young people
- Build positive relationships with students and staff
- Be calm, flexible and organised
- Work effectively as part of a team
- Commit to safeguarding and inclusion
- Demonstrate professionalism, tact and enthusiasm
Additional Information
This role is a supervisory position rather than a teaching post and is suitable for applicants without a formal teaching qualification. It would particularly suit graduates, aspiring teachers, experienced teaching assistants or individuals with experience working with young people.
