Job Description:

Axcis Education is working with a specialist Alternative Provision in Brislington, Bristol to recruit resilient and passionate Teaching Assistants for September starts. The provision supports Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 pupils who have been excluded from mainstream education due to behavioural difficulties and SEMH needs. This role is ideal for candidates with a youth work, mentoring or behaviour support background, looking to make a real impact on young people’s lives.

Responsibilities

  • Support pupils with SEMH and behavioural needs on a 1:1 and small group basis
  • Help students re‑engage with education and develop positive behaviour strategies
  • Build strong, consistent relationships acting as a mentor and role model
  • Support pupils both in and outside of the classroom in a structured but flexible environment
  • Work closely with teachers and pastoral staff to create a safe and supportive setting

Ideal Candidate

  • Have experience in SEMH, behaviour support, youth work or mentoring
  • Be resilient, calm and confident managing challenging behaviour
  • Can build strong, trusting relationships with young people
  • Be passionate about helping pupils overcome barriers and succeed
  • Be adaptable and proactive in a dynamic alternative provision setting
