About the role

We are seeking an experienced health and safety professional to develop, implement and maintain a health and safety strategy across the company’s three data centres (Corsham, Slough and Farnborough), London office and home‑working arrangements. The role is a hands‑on, contractor position, reported to the Chief of Staff, and offers a day rate of £250–£300 per day depending on experience. Initial workload will be around two days per week, reducing over time once frameworks are in place.

Role responsibilities

  • Embed a proactive safety culture and ensure compliance with all relevant legislation and best practice.
  • Implement a comprehensive health and safety framework, including policies, procedures, and systems.
  • Work with the company’s health and safety advisor (Peninsula) to create and maintain policies and procedures.
  • Arrange annual site audits from Peninsula and implement the required actions.
  • Conduct risk assessments and implement effective control measures.
  • Design and deliver engaging health and safety training and communications, including induction programmes.
  • Prepare regular reports for senior leadership and stakeholders.
  • Support employees in data centres and at the office with practical guidance on health and safety matters.
  • Identify and source effective PPE.
  • Oversee investigation of incidents and near‑misses, ensuring lessons learned and preventive measures are implemented.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to foster a culture of safety and continuous improvement.

Technical skills / experience

  • Proven senior role experience in health and safety across data centres, office and home‑working environments.
  • Experience conducting risk assessments and implementing solutions.
  • A recognised health and safety qualification (e.g. NEBOSH or IOSH).
  • Chartered membership of IOSH or equivalent accreditation.
  • Strong knowledge of UK health and safety legislation and best practices.

Personal skills / attributes

  • Legally authorised to work in the UK.
  • Able to travel to the London office (Paddington) and the three data centres.
  • Excellent communication, leadership and interpersonal skills to influence senior leadership, managers and employees.
  • Solution‑focused mindset and commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Hands‑on implementation approach.
  • Can‑do attitude and willingness to roll up sleeves to complete tasks.
