1:1 TEACHING ASSISTANT FOR SPEECH AND LANGUAGE DEVELOPMENT

Halsall St Cuthbert’s Primary School is a popular rural school with a strong Christian ethos. We are seeking a part‑time teaching assistant to support one child with speech and language development in Key Stage 2. The role is part of a fixed‑term contract (term‑time only), with 9 hours per week and a salary quoted on a full‑time equivalent basis, paid pro‑rata.

Responsibilities

  • Be a kind, positive and reassuring adult for children at school
  • Support children with special educational needs to achieve academic, physical, social and emotional goals
  • Establish supportive and constructive relationships with children, staff and parents
  • Support learning in 1:1 and small group situations
  • Be professional and courteous to all

Essential Qualifications

  • English & Maths GCSE Grade A–C (or equivalent)

Desirable Qualifications

  • Level 2 or 3 TA qualification
  • Specialist SEN training

Essential Experience

  • Understanding of confidentiality requirements
  • Clear understanding of safeguarding roles and responsibilities (Keeping Children Safe in Education)
  • Ability to relate well to children (across the Primary phase)
  • Good communication skills

Desirable Experience

  • Experience working with or caring for primary‑aged children
  • Experience working in a classroom environment
  • Experience working with children with special educational needs
  • Experience running intervention strategies
