Specialist Speech & Language Therapist

We are looking for a highly motivated Band 6 SLT to join our team at Ealing Hospital. The post holder will be expected to work in the following clinical environments: Care of the Elderly; Gastroenterology; Respiratory; Endocrinology; Cardiology: Infectious Diseases; Surgery; Orthopaedics & Critical care. She/ he will also be expected to see progressive Neurological patients and those repatriated from major trauma centres following acute neurological events and spinal cord injuries.
The post holder will join a highly supportive and innovative Speech & Language Therapy Department, with an excellent support and supervision programme for professional development. In addition to formal supervision and regular mentoring, we provide regular cross‑site support groups and in‑service training opportunities.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will participate in team meetings, audit and projects on a regular basis. They will plan, deliver and evaluate specialist training within a range of settings to other professionals on all aspects of swallowing.
They will provide clinical education and training to newly qualified speech and language therapists & students and will be supported by the Principal SLT to develop their own skills in instrumental dysphagia assessment as needed.

Person Specification
- Recognised Speech and Language Therapy Degree Qualification or equivalent and member of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists.
- Health Care Professions Council – License to Practice
- Evidence of training e.g. structured self‑directed study / formal courses using regular appraisal of research & evidence base to develop knowledge.
- Experiential training to demonstrate specialist skills in VFS, FEES.
Knowledge and experience
- Experience of working with clients with complex dysphagia
- Experience of assessment treatment and management of complex clients with speech, language, and communication difficulties
- Well established knowledge of a range of appropriate therapeutic interventions relevant to the above client group.
- Well established knowledge of assessment tools relevant to the client groups with speech, language, communication and swallowing difficulties, including referral for FEES & VFS
- Experience of working with carers & MDT
