About the role

Title: Apprenticeships and Talent Development Officer

Grade: F

Salary: £39,152 – £41,771 per annum (rising by annual increments to £41,771)

Hours: Full Time – 37 hours per week

Location: Service Headquarters, Salisbury or Dorchester Support Offices, Poundbury – you will need to attend your centre of duty up to 5 days a month. Outside of those days you may work from home or a designated station.

Role overview

You will be part of the Learning and Organisational Development department, responsible for the service Apprenticeship programme and related talent development initiatives.

Key responsibilities

  • Manage the implementation of the service Apprenticeship programme, ensuring the levy is used effectively to provide development opportunities for staff in accordance with government apprenticeship standards and requirements.
  • Manage external training providers and supplier contracts to ensure due diligence, cost‑effectiveness, and compliance with best practices.
  • Supervise a range of learners, adapting the approach to provide additional support for both learners and managers of apprentices to enhance the learning experience and successful completion.

Qualifications – What makes you the ideal candidate?

  • Qualified to relevant level 4, or able to demonstrate significant senior experience in a relevant sector.
  • Experience in the design and/or delivery of development programmes.
  • Experience in financial reporting and monitoring.

Essential requirements

  • Must be able to fulfil the travel requirements of the role, including attending meetings and training events at various locations across the service area.
  • Standard Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check will be required before offer.
  • Full pre‑employment checks will include identity checks, right‑to‑work in the UK, medical checks, references, verification of employment history and an explanation of any gaps in employment in the last three years.
