Job Title: Cover Supervisor

Location: Sheffield

Salary: £460 – £650 per week (depending on experience)

Start Date: Immediate

Contract Type: Day‑to‑day / Long Term, Full‑time / Part‑time

GSL Education is looking for dependable and motivated Cover Supervisors to work in schools across Sheffield. As a Cover Supervisor, you will take charge of classes across a variety of subjects, ensuring pupils remain engaged with pre‑set work while maintaining a positive and structured learning environment.

Responsibilities

• Supervise classes during teacher absences across a range of subjects
• Deliver pre‑prepared lesson materials and keep students focused on assigned tasks
• Foster a calm, respectful, and productive classroom atmosphere
• Manage student behaviour in accordance with school policies
• Offer guidance and support to pupils as they work through set activities
• Liaise with teaching staff regarding any concerns or incidents
• Uphold a safe, inclusive environment for all learners

Requirements

• Previous experience working with children or young people is desirable
• Confidence in managing a classroom independently and professionally
• Strong communication, organisation, and interpersonal skills
• The ability to follow lesson plans and instructions with minimal supervision
• A flexible, proactive, and reliable approach to work
• A genuine enthusiasm for education and young people’s development
• An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to complete a new application)
• Strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection; successful applicants must satisfy all background safer recruitment checks, including providing an enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service or completing a new application
