An independent specialist provision in Nottinghamshire is seeking an experienced and dedicated Secondary Science Teacher to join their growing team. This is an exciting opportunity to deliver high-quality GCSE Science teaching within a highly supportive and well-resourced setting.

The school supports pupils aged 7-13 with a range of additional needs, including ASD, ADHD, attachment needs and associated behavioural challenges. Class sizes are small, with no more than 6 pupils per class, supported by teaching assistants and a strong pastoral team.

This role would suit a qualified teacher with proven experience delivering Science at GCSE level, alongside strong behaviour management skills and previous experience supporting pupils with SEN or challenging behaviour within educational settings.

The Role:

  • Deliver engaging and differentiated Science lessons at GCSE level
  • Create a positive, structured and safe learning environment that promotes engagement and progress
  • Use strong behaviour management strategies to support pupil learning and participation
  • Adapt teaching approaches to meet a range of additional learning needs
  • Work collaboratively with teaching assistants and wider school staff to support pupil outcomes
  • Monitor, assess and report on pupil progress and wellbeing
  • Support pupils during extracurricular activities, enrichment sessions and school trips

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Previous successful experience teaching Secondary Science at GCSE level
  • Previous experience working with pupils with SEN and/or challenging behaviour
  • A patient, resilient and adaptable approach
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • A commitment to inclusive education and professional development
  • An enhanced DBS check on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
