As a Linear Asset Technician, you will support the management and improvement of key network assets, working on forward planning, technical assessments and continuous improvement initiatives. The role offers a mix of office and site‑based work, giving you valuable hands‑on experience and exposure to a wide range of stakeholders.

What you’ll be doing
In this role, you will support the day‑to‑day management of key assets across the network, with a mix of site-based and office-based work.
- Carry out site visits to assess assets and upload accurate information to the asset register
- Help respond to technical and HAIL queries, working with others to find practical solutions
- Support the Linear Asset Manager with a range of activities, including:
- Reviewing Asset Management Forward Plans
- Gathering technical information on defects and repair approaches
- Preparing clear information for meetings and updates
This is a varied role where you will learn on the job, build your confidence, and contribute to improving how assets are managed across the network.
Who we’re looking for
We’re looking for someone who is eager to learn, brings a practical mindset, and enjoys working collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
- Be working towards an HNC or HND (or equivalent qualification)
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft packages and asset management systems
- Practical experience within an asset management environment
- Experience of working on a National Highways Area type contract
- A full UK driving licence
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage confidently with both internal and external stakeholders
