We are looking for an enthusiastic SEND Learning Support Assistant to support pupils with a range of needs, including Autism (ASD), SEMH, and Speech & Language difficulties. You will be an integral part of the classroom, working under the guidance of the Class Teacher and SENCO to provide tailored support that helps students overcome barriers to learning and build self-confidence.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver 1:1 and small group interventions tailored to pupils’ EHCP goals.
- Assist in the social and emotional development of students, using positive reinforcement.
- Maintain a calm and safe learning environment by effectively managing classroom transitions.
- Monitor and record pupil progress, providing valuable feedback to the teaching team.
- Support pupils during break and lunchtimes to encourage positive social interaction.
Qualifications
- Have a genuine passion for supporting children with Special Educational Needs.
- Be resilient, patient, and able to build strong rapport with students who may find school challenging.
- Possess strong communication skills and a collaborative “team player” attitude.
- Have experience with specific SEND strategies (e.g., PECS, Makaton, or de-escalation) is a bonus but not essential.
- Hold an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or be willing to process one).
