Job Description
We are seeking a skilled and versatile Handyperson/Painter to join our maintenance team in Novotel York.
In this role, you will be responsible for a wide range of maintenance tasks, with a primary focus on painting and general repairs. The ideal candidate will be detail‑oriented, efficient, and able to handle diverse maintenance challenges.
- Perform high-quality painting work on interior and exterior surfaces
- Execute general maintenance and repair tasks, including basic carpentry and plumbing
- Prepare surfaces for painting, including cleaning, sanding, and applying primer
- Mix and match paint colors to meet specific requirements
- Maintain and organize tools and equipment
- Identify and report any major maintenance issues to management
- Adhere to safety procedures and maintain a clean work environment
- Respond to maintenance requests in a timely and professional manner
- Assist with other maintenance tasks as needed
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a handyperson or painter
- Proficiency in various painting techniques and use of painting tools
- Basic carpentry and plumbing skills
- Knowledge of safety procedures and proper use of personal protective equipment
- Ability to use hand and power tools effectively
- Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail
- Excellent time management and organizational abilities
- Relevant vocational training in painting or general maintenance (preferred)
- Flexibility to work occasional evenings or weekends as needed
