Directorate: Corporate Services. Permanent, part time, 25 hours per week, split shift (6:15am – 8:45am and 3:30pm – 6:00pm), 52 weeks per year. Additional hours may be available depending on service needs and a degree of flexibility is required.
Are you a practical, proactive, and reliable individual who takes pride in maintaining safe and welcoming environments? We’re looking for a dedicated Caretaker to join the friendly team at Ryecroft Infant School. This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a rewarding school setting, supporting the day‑to‑day operations and ensuring the site is secure, clean, and well‑maintained.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Opening and closing the school premises daily
- Carrying out minor repairs and general maintenance
- Ensuring the site is safe and accessible during adverse weather
- Supporting school events such as parents’ evenings and meetings
- Acting as a key holder and responding to emergencies when needed
- Assisting with cleaning tasks when required
What We’re Looking For
- Experience in building and site maintenance
- Basic repair skills and practical know‑how
- Understanding of Health & Safety regulations
- Knowledge of building security procedures
- Ability to work with contractors and tradespeople
- Strong literacy and numeracy skills
- A flexible and positive attitude

There will also be a requirement for emergency cover on occasion, and the ability to carry out cleaning tasks in line with cleaning specifications when needed.
