Autism Teaching Assistant – Full Time

The Role
We’re recruiting a dedicated Autism Teaching Assistant to join a specialist school team in Liverpool. You’ll work closely with pupils aged 5–16 with autism and complex needs, supporting their learning, emotional regulation, and social development. This is a full‑time role, ideal for someone who thrives in a structured, nurturing environment and is confident delivering 1:1 and small‑group interventions.
What We’re Looking For
- Proven experience supporting children with SEND, particularly autism
- Strong understanding of sensory needs, communication strategies, and positive behaviour support
- Ability to build trusting relationships and adapt to individual pupil profiles
- Team player with resilience, empathy, and a proactive mindset
- Experience in school, care, or community settings with neurodiverse children
What You’ll Be Doing
- Supporting pupils with autism across the school day
- Implementing EHCP targets and personalise learning plans
- Using visuals, sensory tools, and structured routines to aid engagement
- Promoting emotional wellbeing and celebrating progress
- Collaborating with teachers, therapists, and families
