Sports Teaching Assistant, Lewisham

Job Overview

The large and successful school based in Lewisham is looking for a Teaching Assistant / Sports Specialist to join them 5 days a week, as soon as possible.

We cater for students from 11 to 14 years old with SEMH, EBD and challenging behaviour. The staff aim to give pupils skills to move forward into mainstream education. The curriculum is highly personalised and creative, and we develop pupil voice throughout all activities and lessons.

Responsibilities

• Assist within the PE Department.
• Collaborate with teachers and other staff to provide a safe and nurturing environment for students.
• Assist with communication needs and promote positive behaviour.
• Support students with physical and emotional needs.

Essential Requirements

• Experience supporting young people with special needs, SEMH / EBD.
• Previous support work, TA or LSA work within a school or other child related experience.
• Enthusiastic, positive and friendly approach.
• A caring and professional manner, willing to support with the personal care of pupils.
• Must have legal right to work in the UK.
