Job Description:

KS1 Teaching Assistant – Supply & Cover Roles

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the class teacher in delivering engaging lessons in line with the National Curriculum.
  • Work with pupils in small groups or one-to-one to develop literacy, numeracy, and phonics skills.
  • Help create a safe, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment.
  • Support pupils’ social, emotional, and behavioural development.
  • Assist with classroom organisation, resources, and displays.
  • Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to the class teacher.
  • Encourage positive behaviour in line with school policies.
  • Build strong relationships with pupils, staff, parents, and carers.

Qualifications

  • Experience working in a primary school setting, particularly within KS1.
  • Good understanding of phonics schemes and early learning strategies.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • A patient, positive, and adaptable approach.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
  • Eligibility to work in the UK.
  • Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification preferred; candidates with a PGCE or relevant classroom experience are welcome.
