Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and fully qualified Jig Grinder to join our precision engineering team. This role is critical to supporting high‑accuracy manufacturing for aerospace, defence, and other high‑value sectors. The successful candidate will be responsible for programming, setting, and operating a range of precision jig grinding machines to extremely tight tolerances.

Location & Employment Details

Location: Bilston, West Midlands

Job Type: Permanent, 38 hours per week, 07.00am – 15.45 Monday to Thursday, 07.00 – 12.00pm Fridays

Salary: Competitive based on skills/experience

Key Responsibilities

  • Program, set, and operate HAUSER S35, S55, and H45 precision jig grinding machines.
  • Carry out all aspects of jig grinding to the highest standards of accuracy and repeatability.
  • Work to extremely tight tolerances, including:
    • 0.001mm profile tolerance
    • 0.005mm tolerance on fit and hole sizing
  • Set up and process high‑value components for aerospace, defence, and other precision‑critical industries.
  • Perform profile grinding, including punch and die fits to 0.002mm / 0.004mm where required.
  • Operate manual jig grinding machines and apply a full understanding of conventional jig grinding principles.
  • Ensure all work is completed in line with quality, safety, and production requirements.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Fully qualified and experienced in programming, setting, and operating precision jig grinding machinery.
  • Strong experience with HAUSER S35, S55, and H45 machines.
  • Proven ability to work to ultra‑fine tolerances as specified above.
  • Demonstrated experience working with high‑value, complex components.
  • Strong understanding of jig grinding principles, both CNC and manual.

Desirable Skills

  • Experience with CNC Moore Jig Grinding (considered if fully experienced).
  • Experience in profile grinding with tight punch/die fits (0.002mm / 0.004mm).
