Job Summary

Mayfield Specialist School in Chorley is looking to appoint a part‑time (term‑time only) Teaching Assistant with experience in SEN. The role is full‑time equivalent and will be paid on a pro‑rata basis. Salary ranges from £18,591 to £20,131 per annum, corresponding to a full‑time equivalent of £25,989 to £28,142.

Location: Mayfield Specialist School, Gloucester Road, Chorley, PR7 3HN.

Working Hours

Monday: 09:00 – 16:00; Tuesday – Friday: 09:00 – 15:30. Total of 30.5 part‑time hours, including term‑time and inset days.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support and care for pupils with severe learning difficulties or multiple learning needs, including those with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
  • Assist pupils with general classroom duties and in the hydrotherapy pool under the supervision of the pool manager.
  • Provide administrative support, including use of the Tapestry system.
  • Assist with the planning and delivery of teaching materials and follow‑up with individual learning plans.
  • Maintain a safe and inclusive environment for all pupils.

Essential Qualifications and Experience

  • NVQ Level 2 or equivalent qualification appropriate to the post.
  • Level 2 or equivalent in English/Literacy and Mathematics/Numeracy.
  • Experience working with or caring for children in a special or mainstream setting.
  • Experience working in a relevant classroom or service environment.

Desirable Qualifications and Experience

  • Experience supporting pupils with challenging behaviour.
  • Experience of administrative work and using Tapestry.
  • Experience working in a relevant classroom/service environment.
