Overview
Pink Tile Education is supporting a welcoming secondary school in Lancing in their search for a dedicated and resilient Behaviour Support Mentor to join their team in September. This is a full-time permanent position working across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4. The successful candidate will support students with SEMH and behavioural needs, helping them to re-engage positively with learning and school life.
Role Responsibilities
- Support students 1:1 and in small groups with SEMH and behavioural needs.
- Build positive, trusting relationships with students to encourage engagement and progress.
- De-escalate challenging situations using calm, consistent and professional strategies.
- Support students in reintegrating into mainstream lessons where appropriate.
- Work closely with pastoral, safeguarding, and SEN teams to support student needs.
- Promote positive behaviour strategies, routines, and emotional regulation.
- Support students in developing resilience, confidence, and social skills.
- Assist with monitoring student progress and provide feedback to staff where required.
- Maintain a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
- Uphold school policies and safeguarding procedures at all times.
Ideal Candidate
- Experience working with young people with SEMH needs and/or challenging behaviour.
- Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills.
- Calm, resilient, and confident under pressure.
- Ability to build strong, positive relationships with students.
- Patient, empathetic, and consistent approach.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a wider school team.
- Must hold an enhanced DBS on the Update Service or be willing to obtain one.
