Punjabi-speaking Befriender Volunteer

Overview

Punjabi-speaking Befriender Volunteer role at TieTalent in Bromley. Flexible days and times; a couple of hours to spare on a regular basis. You will provide companionship to a resident by meeting regularly for a cup of tea and a chat, and you should be able to communicate confidently in Punjabi.

Responsibilities

• Meet with the resident on a regular basis to provide companionship and conversation
• Follow safeguarding procedures and report any concerns
• Develop a friendship and enjoy conversations while respecting boundaries
• Complete any training provided
• Attend regular volunteer supervisions with your volunteer supervisor
• Attend to the resident’s interests, such as knitting and arts activities, where appropriate

Requirements

• Punjabi language proficiency and ability to engage in conversations in Punjabi
• A warm, chatty person who is also a good listener
• Commitment to regular volunteering
